Meet Our Director

Maggie joined the Lori's Hands team as the organization's first Director in April, 2017. Maggie has a Master's Degree in Art Therapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School and is a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health in Delaware. She has spent her career working in social services, both as a mental health counselor and in aging adult services. Prior to her role with Lori's Hands, she was the Director of Older Adult services at a local nonprofit, overseeing an aging in place initiative. Maggie loves the concept of engaging students in service learning and is thrilled to be a part of the Lori's Hands work.

Board treasurer & co-founder,  Liz Bonomo , MS, is a graduate of the University of Delaware where she studied Foreign Languages & Literatures with minors in Political Science and Art History. Volunteering with Lori’s Hands inspired her to pursue a Master's degree in Community Health Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, which she completed in 2017. Liz works in infectious disease research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Kevin Harris , of Silver Spring, MD, has been working with the nonprofit community for 30 years. He has served as the Director of a bilingual alternative high school for high school dropouts as well as a Senior Housing Planner for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. Kevin is the principal of Kevin Harris Consulting which provides business and marketing consulting to assist small and medium-sized nonprofits and companies to grow.

Luke Warford , MSc is a Risk Management Associate with Facebook. Previously he was an Analyst with Albright Stonebridge Group’s Africa Practice. Prior, Luke was a Fulbright-Clinton Fellow in the African Union Commission’s Department of Trade and Industry. Luke has an MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science and graduated with a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Delaware.

Our graduate assistant,  Emily Benoit,  received her B.S in communication disorders and psychology from University of Massachusetts Amherst where she specialized in developmental disabilities and human services. She is currently a first-year Master's student studying speech-language pathology.

Our president,  Judy Yang , is from Rehoboth Beach, DE. Judy is double majoring in Accounting and Management Information Systems. Judy says that she loves being part of Lori's Hands and spending time with our clients, and that she is honored to be chosen to serve on the exec board for this year!

Our vice president,  Nadia Akhtar , is from Bear, DE. She is a biology major with minors in psychology and history, and plans on attending medical school upon graduation. Nadia loves being a part of Lori’s Hands and feels as if she is making a difference in her community through each and every client visit.

Our recruitment chair,  Shannon Murphy , is a Medical Diagnostics major from Bridgewater, NJ. Shannon plans to attend physician assistant school. As Recruitment Chair, she works to bring greater awareness of Lori's Hands to the university community in hopes of increasing student involvement.

Our finance chair,  Emily Pizzimenti , is a Medical Diagnostics major with a minor in Disability Studies from Manalapan, NJ. She loves that LH provides her with an opportunity to make an impact on individual lives. After graduation she plans to enroll in a physician assistant program with a focus in pediatrics.

Meet our Ambassador Council

Carol Barnett  retired from the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services in 2018 after 42 years as a planner and advocate for people with disabilities. She has a brother, Steve, who lives with her and enjoys having the Lori's Hands volunteers visit, to discuss sports and politics and to make peanut butter cookies!

Alyssa Benjamin  is the Pipeline Program Coordinator for the University of Delaware College of Health Sciences. Alyssa is an alumna of Lori’s Hands: she regularly calls and visits the clients she came to know through her LH internship. She is a graduate of the University of Delaware in Health Behavior Science and Public Health.

Melissa BoNey  joined Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in October 2014. She brought more than 17 years in healthcare, business development, and finance. Melissa holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Oregon, as well as a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wilmington University.

Emily Clouser  served as a graduate assistant for Lori’s Hands from 2017-2018. She is a second year graduate student in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program at UD. Emily thoroughly enjoyed working with Lori’s Hands clients and, so, applied for the Lori’s Hands Ambassador Council.

Patrick Gray  has spent the last 10 years in the healthcare industry working closely with seniors and their families, most recently working for BAYADA Home Health Care marketing home health care services and developing relationships with physicians, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living communities in Delaware and Pennsylvania. He loves to give back and serves on various boards and volunteers his time for several area organizations.

As an Oasis Senior Living Advisor, she meets with and guides older adults through their senior living options to determine the best option for them based on their specific situation. Lynn became involved with Lori’s Hands when a friend with MS needed help and LH responded. Lynn earned a B.S. from Philadelphia University and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a certified Senior Advisor. She resides in Hockessin, DE.

Allison Sullivan  is an owner of Home Instead senior Care Wilmington/Newark. She joined Home Instead in 2012. Her diverse experience provides her with an in-depth understanding of the issues seniors face as they age. Prior to Home Instead, Allison worked in education and business development. She received her MA in Humanities from Fordham University where she was a Presidential scholar. She received her BA from Fordham University in theater.

She advocates on behalf of proposed guardians and wards to pursue the best interests of elderly and disabled persons in Delaware. Elle enjoys presenting to and educating colleagues and members of the community about estate planning, probate, and adult guardianship proceedings.
