Meet our Director!

Maggie joined the Lori's Hands team as the organization's first Director in April, 2017. Maggie has a Master's Degree in Art Therapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School and is a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health in Delaware. She has spent her career working in social services, both as a mental health counselor and in aging adult services. Prior to her role with Lori's Hands, she was the Director of Older Adult services at a local nonprofit, overseeing an aging in place initiative. Maggie loves the concept of engaging students in service learning and is thrilled to be a part of the Lori's Hands work. In her spare time, Maggie enjoys gardening, creating handicrafts, and traveling.

Our Board Treasurer & Co-Founder, Liz Bonomo, MS, is a graduate of the University of Delaware where she studied Foreign Languages & Literatures with minors in Political Science and Art History. Her experiences as a Lori's Hands volunteer inspired her to pursue a Master's degree in Community Health Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, which completed in 2017. She now works in infectious disease research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Kevin Harris has been working with the nonprofit community for 30 years. He has served as the Director of a bilingual alternative high school for high school dropouts as well as a Senior Housing Planner for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. Kevin is the principal of Kevin Harris Consulting which provides business and marketing consulting to assist small to medium size nonprofits and companies grow. Kevin resides in Silver Spring, MD with his wife and twin boys.

Our Board President & Co-Founder, Sarah LaFave, RN, is a graduate of the University of Delaware School of Nursing. Sarah has worked at a community nonprofit, building and managing a new aging in place Village program, and in UD's College of Health Sciences as Director of Community Health Initiatives. Lori's Hands is named in memory of Sarah's mom, Lori. Sarah is currently enrolled in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Master of Public Health Program.

Our Board Secretary & Past-UD Student President, Alexa Rivadeneira, is a graduate of the University of Delaware where she studied Sociology and Public Policy. After graduating, she moved to New York City where she works as a Senior Account Manager at Catchafire. Alexa joined Lori's Hands as a student volunteer in 2010. She fell in love with the work so much that after graduation, she continued her involvement as a board member. Alexa helps with our marketing and events, and travels to Delaware to volunteer with our clients whenever she can.

Our Board Secretary & Past-UD Student President, Alexa Rivadeneira, is a graduate of the University of Delaware where she studied Sociology and Public Policy. Michael Smith, MPA, is Director of Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships for the UD College of Health Sciences. Previously, Michael was Executive Director of the Greater Newark Economic Development Partnership, and prior, Assistant Finance Director for Congressman Mike Castle. He is chairman and founder of Pike Creek Charter School and serves on several community agency boards. In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with his two boys, Nathan and Braedon and playing in local sports leagues.

Luke Warford, MSc is an Analyst with Albright Stonebridge Group’s Africa Practice. Prior to joining ASG, Luke was a Fulbright-Clinton Fellow in the African Union Commission’s Department of Trade and Industry. At Mark Eddo Media, he advised the African Union on improving continental coordination with the eight regional economic communities. Luke has an MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science and graduated with a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Delaware.
