News in brief
Lori's Hands App
We are thrilled to report that this Fall semester marks the launch of our Lori's Hands app! The app will allow us to do a much better job of tracking client visits and volunteer hours as well as keeping tabs on what our volunteers do on visits. We will never be able to quantify all the work that our volunteers put in, but it will be great to be able to keep track of the time our students spend in the community! Special thanks to Catchafire
for hooking us up with the best app developer we could ever hope to work with, Travis Ma. The app will be ready for students to use this semester.
Sunny Day Fund
We are always looking for new ways to carry out our mission of improving quality of life for individuals and families affected by chronic illness. Thanks to our incredible network of student volunteers, we're able to go a long way towards fulfilling that mission for no money at all. Every now and then, though, we find ourselves wanting to give back to our amazing clients, and thanks to our supporters, we have the financial resources to make it happen!
We are now formally announcing the launch of the Lori's Hands Sunny Day Fund, which will allow us to go the extra mile to brighten clients' days. Students will apply for Sunny Day funding only after thoroughly researching other community resources that could be used by their clients. Sunny Day funding could be used for a day of professional yard work, a trip to a baseball game, an upgraded assistive device or anything else that makes life a little better for the clients who teach our students so much. We'll keep you posted on how you can contribute to the Sunny Day Fund in the coming months.
